History of CUSH
The vision for what would become Congregations United to Serve Humanity (CUSH) began in 1998 when religious leaders gathered to discuss a desire to work together. With WISDOM as a model, an interfaith, social justice organization was born.
In 2000, ten congregations officially formed CUSH and began learning to use congregation-based community organizing to build the power needed to root out poverty, racism, and injustice.
CUSH is Nonpartisan
Our work to address systemic change engages us in relationships and conversations with elected officials. As an organization that works to address systemic change, we are often engaged in public as well as political affairs. The issues we work on are driven by our shared values and what is in the hearts and minds of our leaders. CUSH does not endorse candidates or parties. We believe in the need to build relationships with all elected officials.
